Poems by seven QC-area poets become newly-composed songs. Davenport native Lily Arbisser, soprano, makes her Chamber Music Quad Cities debut.
Seven poets, nine composers: CMQC has commissioned nine composers to set to music poems submitted by Quad-City-area poets. On this special evening in March, poets Audra Kerr Brown, Joe Chambers, Therese Guise, Carl Herzig, Farah Marklevits, Beth Roberts, and Johnnie Woods will be present to read their poems aloud; each reading will be followed by a newly composed song using that poem as text. Composers include Jacob Bancks (Augustana College), Brian Baxter (QC Symphony), William Campbell (St. Ambrose University), as well as Patrick Castillo, Monica Gil, Robinson McClellan, Thomas Sauer, Nathan Shields, and Suzanne Sorkin. Join us for an evening exploring the alchemy of words and music.
